Meet Our Minister

Our minister, Eugene "Guy" LaMothe, earned his Master of Divinity from Harvard Divinity School in 1997.  Raised a Baptist, he was drawn to Christian Universalism, and from there made the leap to Unitarian Universalism.

Raised in a military family, he has traveled the world widely.  He graduated from high school in Crestview FL, and went on to earn a B.S. in History of Science and Political Science from the University of Florida at Gainesville, FL.  Subsequently, he was trained as a Montessori teacher.

Guy conducted an internship and served over several summers as minister to the congregation of First UU, San Diego.  After completing a hospital chaplaincy program with Children's Hospital in New Orleans.  Guy went on to serve as minister to the First UU Church of New Orleans from 1997-2004.

He experienced a change of careers in 2005, moving to the North Country to become a real life shepherd on his father's sheep/cattle range near Antwerp, NY.  In 2012 he returned to the field of service to become our part time consulting minister.

Guy was married to his husband in 2013, and they make their home in the wilderness setting of Cranberry Lake.
